Everyone should stop recycling. Everyone should drive their gas-powered cars more, leave the lights on, let the water run, and go wild with any harmful chemicals, regardless of our aquatic friends. After all, even with all these environmental preservation activities, we could still seriously damage our ecosystems. The cause of this is simply technological pollution caused by the use of genetically modified crops. These plants are different in that they have genes inserted into their genetic code, which give them additional characteristics that supposedly help them produce higher yields or defend against insects and diseases, among other benefits. But their benefits are short-sighted; people around the world will ultimately suffer the consequences of this new and carefully examined science. What should concern every person is that it not only affects our ability to produce crops, but it also affects our health. Fortunately, there is a way to change direction and move away from this dangerous path. The Federal Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Department of Agriculture are the regulators working to ensure that only safe crops are introduced into the environment and our food supply. We must urge the FDA and other government agencies to carefully regulate genetically modified plants to prevent dangerous consequences such as the introduction of allergens and toxins into our food supply and invasive weeds into our environment. First, to help understand how genetic engineering is dangerous to our health and the environment, a brief description of how it works will be provided. Genetic engineering is the evolution of our selective breeding, our usual m...... middle of paper ...... notes with aniceberg. If we continue to turn a blind eye, well, we all know how that story ends. The only hope is that we warn the authorities about what we think about this problem and make sure they implement our ideas against these genetic engineering companies. Otherwise we might as well forget the years we spent trying to save our natural resources. Works CitedHosansky, David. "Biotechnological foods". The Researcher CQ Online11.12 (2001).
