Topic > Suffering of Islamic Women - 1267

The image I chose depicts an Islamic woman wearing a black burka and above her eyes are prison bars. In the bottom right corner is a caption that reads “Stop the oppression of women in the Islamist world.” As a young woman who enjoys my freedom and believes strongly in women's equality, this image resonates with me. The International Society for Human Rights, creator of this image, is a German company with the aim of stopping the oppression of human beings. The group includes members from different backgrounds, some were even former prisoners of the Nazis, others are Islamic scholars and some are teachers of certain cultures. Since I share many of the same views as the International Society of Human Rights, I thought it was important to bring this framework to light. The image can also be linked to some current affairs that interest me. Additionally, I am currently enrolled in a course focused on global challenges and one of the main challenges is equal rights for women. There are many issues currently affecting Islamic countries such as war, hunger and lack of resources. However, one of the most important issues often goes unnoticed and no action is taken to help resolve it, and the issue is what happens to women in those countries. The argument supported by this framework is that more action should be taken to stop the oppression of women in the Islamic world. The image contains several elements that help make this topic important. One element is the symbolism it contains, another contributing factor is the media's relationship with current events, the caption and the reasoning behind taking the photo. This photo really says a lot even though it is actually very simple, it does so through .. .... middle of paper ....... there is a woman who still needs a change. This image is so simple but it screams with all the symbols it has. The topic of the image is a very important issue, the caption and the point of the image all contribute to creating an effective argument. No woman should be ignored, as is often the case, and this framework shows that significant action is needed to eradicate the oppression of Islamic women.
