Descartes' dream argument in which he engages in the 'First Meditation' is very complex and tends to make readers feel skeptical if they are truly awake and don't know what is happening in the world around them, or if they are actually just dreaming. His argument can be both easy to understand and break down claims to know certain things that happen in the world. Descartes describes how people who believe they are awake and not dreaming at the moment can be shaken and distrustful. At first glance, it occurred to me that Descartes was delusional in believing that one can believe one is dreaming and not awake. I believe this because when one wakes up in the morning he is awake and no longer dreams, when he opens his eyes he sees the world and begins to exist in the world again, so dreaming is not safe and therefore would not make sense for a normal person.
