Topic > Religious Importance - 658

Belief in a supernatural existence like God is an ancestral human behavior. Religion took its place in this scenario by providing religious people with advice, rules and a place to perform their rituals (e.g. temples, churches and mosques). However, nowadays the number of people who do not profess any religion is increasing. These people are also called agnostics. They concern the need to believe in supernatural existences. Although some people resist having a religion, there are more reasons that support the importance of being religious. Agnostics complain that there is no difference between having faith in a God or in oneself. A thin line separates this statement showing that more important than belief in a God are the other benefits that belief in a supreme existence can induce. For example, when humans are exposed to situations beyond their control, they search for answers instead of giving up, so the role of religion is to provide them with a way to overcome such problems. Furthermore, people always feel confident in their lives when they know they have someone capable of helping them. For example, religious people believe that no matter what situation has arisen, they will receive help from a divine existence. Therefore, it is evident that religion brings a number of different benefits to its followers. Talking about the social influences that religion entails is a polemical topic. There are sizable groups who argue that there is no religion that can influence people's behavior. On the contrary, the existence of a supernatural entity helps people think about their actions before doing anything. According to Bering and Johnson, “…the fact that they cannot gossip or, for that matter, the fact that… middle of paper…… claim that believing in heaven or hell is foolish, like parents telling their children that monsters exist under the bed trying to control their actions. On the contrary, it is not only heaven or hell that have greater importance, but also the other meanings that belief in them entails. For example, it is a fact that everyone will die. All types of religion have as their principle something about the afterlife. It is a way to give meaning to their existence. Furthermore, believing in hell or heaven brings with it a sense of justice. Then it will be easy to know that the world is still just and that all humans will receive what they have done during their journey on Earth. In summary, being religious helps in many aspects of human life. While there are a number of points for and against this topic, the best way to do it is to respect people's ideas, whatever they may be.
