Is Our World too close to a world that is seen as so bad by other people that they ban it? It is a world where it is forbidden to read a book, own a book or question the laws. A world where the media is something that takes over your life. This is the world in Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451, where we see a fireman whose job is to start fires, fires where they burn books. Books that were banned because they would make people think differently, offend others, and prevent them from questioning the world they live in. Our world today is like the world in this book, as we both live in a society that is largely focused on the media, who want everything to be done immediately without patience, demanding it now and at the exact moment. In Fahrenheit 451 books are illegal and people are encouraged to spend all their time watching TV and only worry about what is happening on their favorite TV shows. They don't think about what happens in the real world. Our society is very similar to this because we are obsessed with the latest trends, the latest technology. they want to know everything about this celebrity and the drama that happens in the shows they watch on TV. It's amazing how obsessed these worlds are with these worlds that are playing in their living room and we are attached to our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts. Even the folks at Fahrenheit 451 would mostly be obsessed with these social media accounts. It was written in this Time Magazine article “But a 2009 study found that when presented with extraneous information, participants who (based on their responses to a study questionnaire) did a lot of media multitasking performed worse on a test compared to those who don't do much media multit...... middle of paper...... 83) In this quote from a writer who had discovered the importance of books and the necessity they have, “For another , a book's battery will never run out. (Tiffany Lewis) All of this is important because it shows us the truth behind our world. It shows the good things we have and the things that are not so great in our world. This means that we must work to improve our society, not letting others determine how we act. The world of Fahrenheit 451 written by Ray Bradbury shows us that we are like that world in the sense that we want everything to be right in that moment that we are obsessed with. technology and let it take over our time. But we believe that books are important and not something that should be illegal and harmful to us. Seeing this makes us wonder if we are transforming into the world found in Fahrenheit 451 or if we are improving by moving away from that world.
