People can be motivated to take revenge on others for various reasons. Although these reasons can be considered very serious or rather trivial, they are all reasons for revenge. Revenge occurs when a person has been offended or angry by an individual and as a result has the desire to repay him or her. People's opinions on revenge differ from each other, some may believe that it is justified and others may not. Mahatma Gandhi believed that revenge was not the answer and stated that “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.” This quote portrays the view that if everyone could get even, there would be no one else; if we all looked eye to eye everyone would be blind. Revenge can be learned through real-life experiences as well as through fiction and can be shown as justice or unacceptable. It becomes difficult to determine when revenge may be justified, but is it always worth it? My personal experience with revenge is not much and involves small things. Revenge can simply be when a person draws from your book, and even though you would also draw from his book. It could also occur in a game, for example my friend plays a lot online and this game is simply about "killing" other opponents. Once, her character was attacked by another opponent but she was not prepared for the attack and lost. For this reason she was angry and wanted revenge. He then convinced all his other friends to "team up" and attack his opponent. Since it wasn't a very fair fight, the opponent lost. This act might seem childish and trivial, but this is the act of revenge. In the book “The Loaded Dice”, two stories “Fingers” and “Mrs Bixby and the Colonels Coat” demonstrated the act of revenge very well. The story "Fingers" was a story of L...... middle of paper ...... knowing about each other. The element of revenge runs deeper in this story and supports the quote "What goes around, comes around." Revenge happens everywhere in the present and some still seek revenge for wrongdoings of the past. The desire to satisfy the need for revenge can lead to an even bigger problem and affect everyone globally. It can be difficult to determine when revenge can be justified, but from my point of view, revenge can never be justified since it can hurt and include other people involved in the problem. The two stories showed that the idea of seeking revenge can consume your life and is very serious. It is better for us to let go of the grudge instead of making the other person suffer as much as you did, as it is a mature decision. Revenge can be dangerous and immoral, and people are willing to go to great lengths to get revenge.
