Topic > My passion in computer science - 699

I am applying for master's degree in computer science. My passion in computer science dates back to the time when my father bought me my first computer while I was in 5th grade . From then on he never looked back. I scored very high in Computer Science during my pre-university studies which earned me admission into one of the most reputed colleges in Karnataka. I continued to achieve superior academic results with a distinction in each semester. My decision to apply for university education is based on my goal to work in industry or academia and through this be able to contribute to society. Ten years from now I envision myself as a full-fledged research professional capable of founding an organization offering software services. A master's degree is an important first step to achieving this goal. My goal is to serve society by using computers as a platform. In India, all official work, from schools to small-scale offices, is mostly done on paper due to the shortage of software and data warehouses. My intent is to start an organization that develops software as per the client's needs and helps them maintain their data on a data warehouse with appropriate architectures. To achieve this goal, I seek a quality graduate education, with rigorous coursework and the opportunity for research in web technologies and database management systems. During my undergraduate course, I was part of a team that started online registrations for the first time in the university festival using a website hosted on a cloud server. As a result, registrations at intercollegiate festivals increased dramatically, and students were able to register for events at their convenience and from the comfort of their homes, avoiding the cumbersome and... middle of paper...... mber of “yes+” in the part of Art of Living, a program that supports various social causes. I believe these experiences have given me the kind of personal qualities that will serve me well during graduate school in a foreign country. The State University of New York-Stony Brook, with its excellent courses, state-of-the-art laboratories and new computer science facility is the most appropriate choice for me. I would appreciate the opportunity to work with Professor Michael Kifer, Research Assistant Professor Yevgen Borodin and Associate Professor CR Ramakrishnan as their research in the field of databases relates to my interest. Stony Brook University's huge campus, low tuition and location make it a perfect destination to pursue my graduate studies. If admitted, I guarantee that I will put forth my utmost effort to successfully complete my degree.
