This article analyzes the ways in which discourses circulating in social networks shape representations of political action in the Chilean student movement. The study seeks to investigate the linguistic, psychosocial aspects and historical-political factors that influence the ways in which students' actions are self- and hetero-represented online. As regards theoretical and methodological terms, a qualitative focus limited to the area of Critical Discourse Studies is privileged, within which the following is considered: a) the socio-cognitive model of Teun van Dijk) (2012, 2011, 2010, 1999), with particular attention to his conference on political identities, ideology and context, y and b) the notions of mediation, mediatization and meta-representation proposed by Neyla Pardo Abril) (2012, 2009, 2008), which explain the impact of technological interaction on discursive adaptation, which includes not only new means of communication but also new ways of exercising citizenship.
