Topic > Fiction: Improving the Teaching and Learning Process

I have been a second language teacher for more than twenty years and have taught students of all ages in public and private schools, as well as private lessons, although I have never had With formal teaching training, as Professor MacBeath says in Lesson 1, "I already understand a lot about the nature of learning and the nature of teaching." I have been teaching business people for almost two years. No colleague or educational authority has always evaluated my teaching performance, which is why I decided to enroll in this course; to learn more, to analyze and review what I have done, to get support, feedback and exchange ideas to become a better teacher. Even though this is not the first course I have signed up for on Coursera, it is a great achievement for me to have reached this point because I must admit that I have not overcome the fear of not understanding what is taught, of not being able to bring to finishing homework and even worse the possibility of failing a test. In all these circumstances, I find myself as a student who needs guidance to transform all the knowledge I have into teaching tools. Each lesson led me to serious reflection on teaching and learning, for example as I watched lesson 1.4 and heard Jeff Southworth talk about toxins and nutrients, “nutrients, the things that actually help you grow professionally, and the toxins, the things that actually poison that professionalism.” Among the toxins; the high rate of absenteeism and lateness of students to lessons due to their work responsibilities, the teacher using lesson time to attend to other responsibilities, such as translating articles and correcting documents, time wasted in travel from one building to another...... half of the sheet... lack found, when a vote and a comment were given to the children, they tended not to look at the comment, but to look at the vote. 'Therefore they are d I agree that assessment should be aimed at helping students realize how much they have learned, what they still need to learn and how they are going to apply everything they have learned in real life. As for teachers, it should help them know what the next step is, what they need to change or improve, and how what they have been taught will improve the lives of their students. I am aware of how much humanity has developed and improved the teaching of the learning process through experience, research, creativity, trial and error. I am grateful for all those sources that have been created to facilitate the transmission of knowledge and I am sure that we still have a long way to go to become better teachers and prepare our pupils to make a difference in their lives..
