Suzanne Collins, the author of the Hunger Games trilogy, made sure that every detail of her work was meaningful. His work is well thought out, even the names of the characters are not just labels of identity, but make a greater contribution to the story. The story is about a futuristic place called Panem, divided into twelve districts and a Capitol. The Capitol controls every aspect of life in the districts, as it annually hosts the Hunger Games. Tributes are taken from each district and fight to the finish until there is not one left standing. This game is broadcast throughout Panem and is intended for entertainment and punishment for the district's rebellion. The citizens of the Capitol have historical names, which attribute to their position of power in Panem. The citizens of the districts bear names of natural orientations. This would refer to their living conditions opposite to the futuristic Capitol, the districts are in a state of poverty where the citizens are truly one with nature as they search for food. Collins not only gave us a developing plot, but also added extra details that created a completely new look at the story. The well-thought-out names of the characters give each of them a more complex characteristic within the plot. The names within the Capitol are important when analyzing not only the characters, but also the plot. The names have historical references especially from the Roman and Shakespearean era. This is a common feature among American films. In the article "The Hollywood Sign" the term archetype is mentioned, defined as "...all that has been repeated in narrative from ancient times to the present" (Maasik 367). The names of the characters within the Capitol can be classified as archetypes. In... middle of the paper... or do to get sponsors. The name Peeta sounds just like pita, which is Greek bread, and is one of the oldest breads, meaning solid (Krule). Peeta is a baker and is able to become rock solid through camouflage, but is also strong enough to push heavy objects across the room. This is another name with another significant contribution to the plot. The trilogy has a mix of atypical names. When you look deeper into the roles of specific characters and gain knowledge of the story and nature, you discover precise connections. The characters influenced the author, Collins, through historical and natural aspects and got their names by inserting strategic time into them. Something as small as a character's name can help us better understand the specific personality through knowledge of external materials.
