United Nations involvement in international disputes helps develop relations between nations. Peacekeeping, a vital tool used by the United Nations, is one of the only methods that help the cooperation of nations by leading countries towards peace and forging a stable alliance between the world. United Nations peacekeepers, the peacekeeping workforce, are held by the principles of impartiality, consent of the parties and non-use of force except in self-defense and mandate during peacekeeping operations. Through military use, United Nations peacekeepers enforce peace, protect civilians, promote human rights, maintain civil wars, interstate conflicts, and facilitate the political security process.
