Imagine you are studying for a biology exam that covers ten chapters. Imagine opening the textbook for the first time the night before the exam. Imagine scrolling through page after page and trying to retain all the information while, at the same time, trying to get at least 9 hours of sleep. The truth is, it's nearly impossible. The brain cannot memorize ten chapters of information in one night. And in one night there are not enough hours to memorize ten chapters and at the same time sleep 9 hours. Consequently, it is essential that students spread their study over several nights. The problem is that most students have busy schedules and tend to procrastinate; so they are forced to prepare for exams the night before.
