The book Signers of the Declaration was written by Katherine and John Bakeless. Both Katherine and John wanted people to know the truth behind the signers of the Declaration. The Declaration singers have an amazing story of the events that happened to the singers who signed the Declaration. It also contains solid background information about the events and also describes who the singers were. Signers of the Declaration risk their lives to change the way of life and to give freedom so that all are created equal. The book Singers' Declaration describes the risk they took in signing the Declaration and the problems that resulted. Some of the facts that Katherine and John Bakeless talked about, for example, are when the Declaration of Independence was created, which was created on July 4, 1776. Another fact that was mentioned is that there was something written on the back of the Declaration of Independence, which was written The Original Declaration of Independence and on the back of it was the date (87). The tracking facts and information Bakeless talked about came from primary sources and academic journals. Signers of the Declaration include Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman. Although there were other people who signed the Declaration, Thomas Jefferson is often called “the author” because he expressed most of the ideas (99). Each of the singers wanted everyone to be able to live life in freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Also to be able to be safe in their own country and to be able to have the freedom to say what they wanted "freedom of speech". The information Bakeless provides in the book is mature information; Bakeless jumps into the book from historical events out of order. For example, Bakeless can talk about the Revolutionary War and skip talking about the Declaration. The way Bakeless wrote the book is not as organized as it should be. Even though Bakeless didn't organize the book, it's not difficult to read and follow. The book Signers of the Declaration is a must read because it contains the most amazing facts about the Declaration of Independence.
