Integrating Faith and Teaching If everyone on this earth believed that all human beings have the ability to be and become good people, this world would be a very different place. I am convinced that human beings are good and I believe that it is essential that all people do their best to try to find the good aspects and qualities in others. I think it's important to focus on the positive and good aspects of people, although some make this very difficult to even attempt. All people have something to offer the world, even if they don't know it. I think as a teacher it is my job and my duty to find these positive points in my students. In I Corinthians 7:7 it states that “…each has a peculiar gift from God, one of one kind, and another of a different kind.” Later in I Corinthians 12 it states that God has given us these gifts to use. Once I establish the qualities my students possess, I can continue to build on their foundation. I can also help guide them on the path of good behavior and good moral life. If I detect any weaknesses, I can also help work on those points by developing them with the student. As I stated before, I believe that every person, regardless of their “position” or lack thereof in life, deserves to know that they have something to offer others on this earth. Every child is worthy as J. Fennema suggests, and it is my duty, together with the parents, to help the child realize and understand it. I believe it is the teacher's job to help bring out the talents and gifts of his or her students so that they can use and develop them to help, hopefully, create the community in which they are involved and those communities in which they will want to... .. .. middle of the paper ...... the kind of life and person I represent. I think the biggest example is action. I honestly struggle with some aspects of my faith. I may end up teaching at a Christian school that has different beliefs than I was raised to believe; however, all Christians firmly believe that the Lord sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die and save us from our sins. I can always share this and the core belief of what it means to live a Christian and moral life. No matter what position I am in, or where I teach, I can try to always live my life as an example of what it means to be a Christian. Works Cited Dykstra, C. (1981).
