Topic > New Testament Synopsis - 2196

The basic story of the New Testament is that Jesus Christ is God incarnate as our Savior. All the authors of the Gospels, whether direct witnesses or faithful writers, described the ways in which Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled Old Testament prophecies about the coming Messiah. The death and resurrection of Jesus are fundamental to the history of the Old and New Testaments, as the culmination and fulfillment of the hopes of salvation expressed since the beginning of recorded history. The Gospels not only describe the birth and death of Jesus of Nazareth, but detail his life and teaching, including minutiae that correspond to parallel parts of the Old Testament - and one would think that this truth would have been recognized by more his contemporaries. The rejection experienced by Christ in His time opened the door to redemption for the most remote parts of the world, after which Israel was finally returned to Him. The book of Acts continues the story of God's redemption of everything He wants. The church is governed by the Holy Spirit who guides God's people as we live and witnesses His ongoing redemption. The book of Acts follows the Great Commission of Jesus, as stated in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." - Jerusalem (Acts chapters 1–5), Judea and Samaria (Acts chapters 6–9), through Syria, Asia Minor and Europe to Rome (Acts chapters 9–28) – for them the most extreme parts of Earth. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ set the story of the Old Testament in motion to be fulfilled and become a blessing to the entire world, not just the chosen Jews. .... half of the sheet ......uart (06-07-2009).
