It raises questions like “Can brands help achieve these specific goals?” and “What is the role of communication in engaging consumers on these objectives?” The article begins by discussing statements made by Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo, and Matt Damon, co-founder of water.org. Both discuss the cooperative changes they are making to address social issues such as consumer health and disease. The article then goes on to explain the role India plays in modern CSR efforts. Indian companies are starting to focus more on social to strengthen their brand image through communication, media and constant audience engagement. The effects of this change can be demonstrated by a study conducted by Cone communications/Echo global which found that Indians are more likely to be involved in CSR efforts than their global counterparts. Continuing, many influential individuals in Indian society began to become more involved, leading to faster social change. These individuals include Satyameva Jayate star Aamir khan; a show focused on social problems. Aamir has a following of 2 million people, which indicates that society is ready to embrace positive change. These changes will occur in order to motivate employees to make responsible decisions that will be related to the issues the company has decided to pursue. Finally, management will have to make decisions based on various social issues and will also have to avoid decisions that will have a negative impact on their company. Ultimately, if these decisions are made, companies will have to change to adapt. These changes will help improve or solve many social problems that occur in the modern world. They will also help change individuals to become more aware of society's problems.
