One of the most relevant ethical and legal frameworks from what we have gathered are Fair Trade and the EU's CAP (Common Agricultural Policy). First we will talk about fair trade and then about CAP. Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International (FLO) is an organization that promotes fair trade. It focuses on improving the lives of producers in underdeveloped countries in a sustainable way. According to FLO's official website, the first Fairtrade labeled product was coffee from Mexico, sold in Dutch supermarkets in 1988. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, the idea of Fairtrade became was widespread and FLO was founded in 1997. in Germany. With the exception of Russia, Eastern European countries, Saudi Arabia, some Middle Eastern countries and Greenland, almost all countries in the world participate in FLO as a Fairtrade licensee or producer. FLO has around 20 years of history and has networks almost all over the world. FLO's main purpose is to help producers to live sustainably. FLO connects consumers in developed countries and producers in developing countries through the certification and labeling of Fairtrade products. FLO's website states that their mission is to "empower producers to fight poverty, strengthen their positions and take greater control over their lives." To achieve this mission, FLO has four programs: child labor, climate change, workers' rights and access to finance. All of these programs are aimed at helping third world producers live a better and sustainable life. Support and guidance Fair Trade will work with companies such as manufacturers, retailers and other associated companies to purchase products from producers in underdeveloped countries... ... half of the paper ...... be cut in certain months to allow wildlife to breed or that woodland wildlife habitats should be fenced to protect their distinctive features and promote biodiversity. Indeed, if farmers supported the countryside and adapted to the programs, they would be entitled to more subsidies. Communal farming has never been more important, with populations predicted to rise globally as conditions improve and people therefore live longer (UN Population, 2011). With this population growth there will be more consumers to feed. It is vital that there is food safety with duties that the food is of a high standard and that ethics are taken into account. In conclusion, the CAP is superior to the agricultural sector, it has different principles that companies must follow and, if it ever surpasses them, with the likes of organic, Fairtrade products to improve their image.
