Chemical and Radiological Hazard Preparedness in Fort Worth, Texas Improvements To reduce the impact of chemical explosions or the rate of exposure, one of the best strategies to follow is to evaluate the actual hazard exposed to the community members. This assessment is a crucial step in developing an effective response plan. A risk assessment ensures that the right tools are sought and the correct measures are appropriately applied to reduce the possibility of an explosion. The approach should be based on several aspects, which are based on the expected source of chemical contamination. Before undertaking any form of response, a response station should be established to deal with all attacks or threats. The station should be equipped with the necessary manpower to ensure competence and reliability. One of the areas that should be improved is surveillance of sneak attacks. Other less obvious areas should also be monitored and care should be taken around all critical areas to ensure that there is extensive surveillance of all activities carried out which may lead to the outbreak of stealthy chemical attacks (Turnbull & Abhayaratne, 2002). there is a need to focus on monitoring systems around the area using GIS surveys to ensure that exposure data is integrated into the monitoring station. The information from the GIS survey would be very useful in determining whether any of the companies have violated the expected standards by releasing harmful gases (Ferguson, Tahseen, & Perera, 2003, p. 26). Furthermore, the information would help provide a true picture of the environmental situation in relation to a particular chemical attack. The station should be staffed with professionals, who should...... middle of paper...... 1053.Ferguson, C. D., Tahseen, K., & Perera, J. (2003).
