Fig 1.7 Whereas, compared to diagram 1.6, diagram 1.7 highlights the importance and popularity of the fantasy genre as 36% of males and females find this exciting and fascinating read to keep them entertained. However, what is interesting is that classics have 13% of people reading these books. However, he is not very specific about the type of classic books these people read. This is also the case for general fiction, which has 17% where it is not specific enough to specify what kind of genre is fun and applicable to readers that is interesting to them. However, unlike point 1.6, the horror genre and science fiction genre did not appear to be present in the list, which indicates that they were not popular enough at that time for readers to find interest and enjoyment in reading these types of genres. Therefore, it is evident that in 2010-2011 there were some people who preferred the fantasy genre over the horror or science fiction genre. Although science fiction and horror are elements or subgenres of the Gothic novel, this is losing its popularity in the 21st century, which is suggestible by statistics showing that some people prefer other genres opposite to horror/science fiction. the most important factor contributing to the loss of popularity of gothic literature is due to the horror films subgenre captivating audiences. For example: Fig 1.8 Item 1.8 demonstrates that the type of horror including vampires, zombies and werewolves has the highest percentage of 10% of any other category. This is important because some people like horror when the films involve characters from the 18th and 20th centuries who were written by some of the greatest writers. Therefore the 'monsters' or villains are still like... half of the paper... subtle and not so subtle representations of the society and the truth that is hidden in that society of that time. However, compared to the 21st century, no form of reading has ever been defined as “dangerous”, probably, for young people. As a civilized society we accept different forms of reading, be it dark or with a happy ending, we have developed an open mind to consider any kind of literature to read. Those who are not interested in literature are encouraged to read the novels that the films depicted. Regardless, Gothic literature is still immensely popular, whether depicted in film, TV, music, etc. There will always be a fascination with the art, architecture or history of Gothic literature or "Gothic" in general: children, teenagers, adults. they are fascinated by Gothic literature in the different variations that fascinate them.
