Cold Coleridge (An Analysis of Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner)One of the greatest poems in the English language must be Coleridge's, “The Time of the Ancient Mariner” is one of the very first scary poems written in its time period It was however the first to initiate the reanimation of corpses, or what we now like to call Zombies A teenager running after his friends, going to a wedding, when suddenly a frail old hermit grabs him by the arm and pulls him towards him, begging him to listen to the story from which this story comes from the old man's point of view, as if he had really experienced the things he was saying, starting to explain how their ship, when he was a sailor, had gone too far south and got stuck in the ice just before the crew had given up hope, a great sign emerges, in the form of an albatross and with this majestic bird, the ice melts and the winds come, pushing them north again. But soon, for no apparent reason, the sailor shoots this huge bird with his crossbow. This intern represents a great deal of bad luck for him and his crew. Starting from the end of the wind and the beginning of the calm, that is, the sea is completely calm. The crew suffers, with nothing to drink they slowly begin to dehydrate. They blame the sailor who shot the bird and, as punishment, decide to hang the dead albatross around his neck to remind him of what he had done. Soon they see a ship, which drinks its own blood, the sailor talks about this ship, but soon they find out that it is only a ship of two spirits, everyone on the ship dies except the sailor. Their eyes are always focused on him, never changing or looking away. So… the medium of paper… has made all of us big and small, like no matter our size, we are needed in the world. He also states this about nature, people in his time were too easy to forget about nature, or the places they came from and without this connection, things that are normal in human nature are lost. This would have a lasting effect on our society as people, this is a life lesson that must be learned for the salvation of our people. In conclusion, “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner” is a great example for our society to see and see. learn from. Moving from a lifelong penance, to how someone should feel about a profound poem, and finally to how it impacts our lives as a society and how we see nature. Coleridge does a magnificent job of explaining just that, the importance of nature in our society. Works Cited Pearson Volume II Pages 840-855 “Rime of the Ancient Mariner
