Potatoes are known to be one of the healthiest root vegetables and are essential for balanced lunches; However, an important question has been thrown into the air: Should schools serve french fries and potato products as a staple part of lunches? Public schools that serve french fries and french fry products are benefiting from Common Core GPA and keeping students satisfied. Potatoes are one of the healthiest natural foods on Earth. Although chips are prepared in oil, there are healthier ways to prepare them. The minerals in potatoes, when cooked properly, help students stay fit and full, give them healthy energy, and help with the challenge of teaching. The vigorous benefits of potatoes go beyond stronger brain activity. Dietary fiber, iron, protein and magnesium found only in potato peel and potato pulp contain high amounts of manganese, which is good for the heart and helps reproduce red and white blood cells. You can also find vitamin C, carbohydrates, copper, vitamin B6, vitamin B3 and phosphorus. These help the body absorb B vitamins and provide healthy energy that junk foods in vending machines don't provide. The extra energy helps keep them conscious for longer periods, thus eliminating the need for energy drinks that contain high amounts of caffeine. Without potatoes, students would also be missing the nutrients and minerals that protect against cancer, as well as promote heart health. Rationing a certain amount for lunch is still important so that students do not consume too much starch or carbohydrates. If consumed at high enough levels, carbohydrates can cause drowsiness in young adults, children and the elderly.
