This is my first semester at ART College. For me it is the first step in my design study journey. The reason why I decided to take this course is that I wanted to try to see if I like it enough to continue studying this field or not. I also wanted to study design and computer programming, so I thought web design was the perfect combination of the fields that interested me. Before starting this course, I thought web design was about creating beautiful and convenient websites, so I thought graphic design skill was more important than logical thinking or technical process. However, based on what I have learned so far from this course, I have realized that web designers not only require good design skills, but also the ability to guide the entire website project from start to finish. In other words, web design is not just about placing good design elements on the website, but also about information gathering, planning, communicating, coding, and maintaining websites. I think understanding the job descriptions and requirements for a web designer and learning the entire web design process are the biggest improvements and results I have achieved through this course. I have been trying to read more about web design since I started this course and the reading materials in this course have been really helpful. I enjoy reading website articles about the processes and fundamentals of web design. Furthermore, when I do homework, the reading materials provide all the knowledge and information I need. Sometimes, if I need more information, I look for more articles and blog posts published by professional web designers. I signed up to receive these blog posts, so I can read…half of the paper…summarize it before starting the assignment. This gives me a concrete and concise basis to begin the task. Additionally, I think I got better at gathering information about the assignment and planning how to develop my idea for the assignment. In the future, I would like to spend more time fully absorbing the study content before starting homework, and I try not to leave anything behind that I didn't understand. Also, I would try to follow my ideas more than what the books tell me, so that I can learn how to develop my ideas and convince my customers and users of my ideas. To get a better result from this lesson, I would like to hear Professor Bennett's feedback on my assignments. It was really good that he gave us his feedback with detailed examples on our wireframe assignment, and it definitely helps me to redo the assignment and improve it.
