My work experience has allowed me to acquire a couple of practical skills. I was able to get an overview of problematic behaviors and classroom management. For example, I was taught that you always need to have a backup plan prepared in case the first one doesn't go as a result. The responsibility of entertaining and disciplining children during recess gave me an insight into how to run a classroom. I helped a group of children or read individually every morning, which I enjoyed since I love reading. It taught me to be patient and understanding as I heard them read and correct them. I was able to immediately connect with kids in class and outside of class, of all ages. It absolutely satisfied me. Just seeing a smile on a child's face after completing a piece of art or a story they have written is joy. I attended the class assembly. A few times I was told to stand at the front of the class while the teacher was away, it taught me a lot about leadership. By the end of the play program, I found myself singing and engaging in the games with the same enthusiasm as the children. Overall, this experience has increased my confidence and given me more courage towards this career, as well as opening my eyes more to what a teacher faces on a daily basis.
