Changes in religion, education, diversity and technology are showing positive and controversial effects on American society. Religious involvement in the lives of Americans is facing a decline. Educators are changing how they shape young minds. America could become more diverse within the next century. Technology is showing positive and negative results on how it affects human health. Over the time period of the 20th and 21st centuries, American culture has changed dramatically. “Between 1700 and 1740, an estimated 75 to 80 percent of the population [in America] attended church, at a frenetic pace.” Since then, in the 19th and 20th centuries, most religions in America have lost much of their influence and power. Since the 20th century, religion has begun to face a worrying decline in influence. Between 1880 and 1910 women's body shape was supposed to resemble that of S. They would follow a strict routine starting with strengthening the upper body with corsets to create an hourglass shape. They wore skirts that touched the floor and "the sight of even the ankle was considered quite daring." A biblical source states that women dress "modestly" and that "inner beauty" is more important than outward beauty. In the 1920s a group of women started a new type of fashion by dressing and acting against what society deemed acceptable. This group of activists formally called casual sex invented flappers; they also weren't afraid of not acting feminine. They smoked, drank and drove cars, which were not usual things you would see women doing in their day. In the 1920s flappers talked about embracing the young, a sort of motto for today's children. Flappers have had a great influence on today's life not only... middle of paper... tidy. Everything stated above and only mentioned is how the 20th century has transformed into the 21st century. Changes in religion, education, diversity, and technology are showing positive and negative effects in today's society. Since the 19th century religion has shown a decline in power. Educators have changed the way they plan to educate today's youth to develop skills that they can use in job competition to develop more skills after school. America has become more diverse and shows a future of greater diversity. Technology is impacting the health of Americans by helping them live and fight disease, and some of these technologies are creating another health epidemic. Over the course of the 20th and 21st centuries American culture has changed dramatically for better and worse, but it is creating a new and stronger culture.
