The first case is when Hamlet begins to replicate the madness. As he begins to feign his madness, a change in Hamlet's fortunes becomes evident, as this causes various people, including Claudius, to become suspicious of Hamlet, every move he makes is watched and monitored. Hamlet had the chance to kill Claudius while praying, but he did not do so because a blow would have granted him heaven, which would mean less than exact revenge. The other main point of the story is where Hamlet kills Polonius by hiding behind the curtain. At this point, when Hamlet kills Polonius, his downfall begins to take a turn for the worse. Hamlet kills Polonius, as he believed that Claudius was spying on his conversation with his mother, this behavior comes suddenly from Hamlet. He jumped at the opportunity to kill who he believed to be Claudius, even though he had never attempted it before. Hamlet knows that Claudius is responsible for his father's death, but he fails to act at the crucial moment and loses the plan he had planned.
