On September 11, 2001, the United States of America was targeted by a terrorist attack. This attack, known as 9/11, has many theorized and some proven causes. 9/11 had a great impact on America and it continues now. The effects began in September 2001 and continue into modern times. The main effects include social, political and economic effects that are located within the country. Another important effect is America's response to its foreign perpetrators. There are many causes and effects of the September 11 attack on the United States of America. For many, September 11 is considered "the greatest tragedy in the history of the United States", however for those who do not know or understand the events that took place on this day, the opinion that it is the "greatest tragedy of the history of the United States” is unclear. To clarify what happened we must ask ourselves: what were the events that occurred on September 11, 2001? It's true that America was targeted for one terrorist attack, but more specifically it was targeted for three attacks. The three attacks took place at the Pentagon, the World Trade Center and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. According to the article “9/11 Attacks” the timeline of events began on the morning of September 11 when nineteen people hijacked four commercial airliners that were heading to California. The hijackers took control of the planes and began their route towards the north-east of the country. At the time, what was happening on the four planes was unknown to everyone except the passengers and flight crew. It is stated that "immediately after takeoff, the terrorists commandeered the four planes and took over the controls, turning ordinary commuter jets into guided missiles." On each plane it is deduced that there were some people stabbed and many people like... in the center of the paper... s. The effects included social, political and economic effects within the country. There were also effects outside the country regarding America's foreign culprits that were the war on terrorism and the killing of Osama bin Laden. Overall, these effects were able to bring America to where it is in 2014. It also shows how strong and intact America can be. Despite the destruction and ruin of our nation's most treasured symbols, Americans have come together, even closer than before, to put the nation back on its feet and make it the strongest it will ever be. Just as former President George W. Bush said on the evening of September 11, 2001: “Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our greatest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundations of America. These acts shatter the steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.”
