Extracted data included sample size in both groups, background information of participants, duration of intervention, description of group of control and intervention group, outcome measures, results (short - or long term), significance and relevance. Data such as p-value, mean, standard deviation or standardized mean differences (SMD) and their 95% confidence interval (CI) were also extracted and analyzed using the comprehensive meta-analysis (CMA software). Data was entered into CMA software where studies reported changes from baseline to post-intervention for each group. Three studies [18-20] reported the sample size of both the control and intervention groups, and the p-value of the independent group; one study [21] reported the mean, sample size, and p-value of independent groups.
