Topic > Poverty in the Philippines - 706

The Philippines has had a serious problem since poverty hit the country. Especially when the typhoon hit the Philippines and where people lost their lives and homes and have nowhere else to live. Today poverty affects a quarter of the population and is still increasing. Around 30% of the population lives below the poverty line. These statistics show that we must do something about this poverty and put an end to it; not only in the Philippines, but also in other places in the world. You can imagine how much suffering they are facing right now, as we take our things for granted. This will help make the Philippines a better place to live. That's why I'm writing this essay to inform you about what we could do to abolish poverty. Let's start by explaining when and how it was caused in the Philippines. EVERYWHERE in the world poverty is caused by 3 main factors; corruption (lack of good governance), lack of education (poor quality) and low wages (a poor economy). These 3 things cause poverty, and this is what is happening right now in the Philippines. If Philly (let's just call it Philly just to avoid arguments) didn't have any of these things, then they wouldn't have any problems. According to teenonk.com, corruption causes poverty because it takes away from the budget of both the government and its citizens. Corruption also has a role to play in the context of rising taxes, which really impacts currency problems. Lack of education is also a cause of poverty; this is due to the fact that individuals with education achieve more than those without education. Low wages, or a poor economy, cause poverty because, more often than not, helping people in poverty earns wages that are not enough to help them. Because... in the middle of the paper... em. Since 2008, the conditional cash transfer program has been expanded to over 2 million families, with a budget of around $450 million, which is actually quite good. The World Bank was also associated with this program and also donated 20 million dollars and donated food, clothing and water. At least there are people doing something to help. This is what we should do. These are all the organizations I received that are helping to abolish/alleviate poverty in the Philippines.
