This comes from my perception after reading comments such as: "The Bible consistently characterizes the wilderness as a "cursed" land, "the environment of evil", a "sort of hell" "on earth. (Nash) “It was very interesting to encounter this concept. The author then talked about how Puritans believed it was their right, as followers of God, to contribute to the environment. The theory that God told us to build our own paradise is one of the claims that seemed to center on the religious beliefs behind the argument against wilderness.
