The Computer Revolution If I were to make a history book of the years from 1981 to 1996, I would put computers on the cover. Computers, you ask? Yes, computers, because if suddenly there were no more computers in the world, there would be total chaos. People couldn't; communicate, move, transact business, purchase things, or do most things in your daily routine, because power plants use computers to control electricity production. Computers have evolved extremely rapidly over the past fifteen years. Ten years ago, all a computer could do was mostly do mathematical calculations and write documents, but to do that required typing a series of complex codes that required a great deal of training to learn. Then the computer company Apple took this complex computer language and evolved it into a simpler system of computer language using words that made sense in their context. This system was called BASIC. BASIC was an important development in computing because it made computers accessible to the average American. This helped a lot in proving that computers were no longer just toys and had a very useful purpose. Most people still felt the cost was too high for a glorified typewriter. Several years after the introduction of the BASIC system, Apple introduced...
