The history of the family has changed enormously in the UK since 1945. Modern England has differed regarding the concept of the family in which it compares with the traditional family, no matter the character family, relationships within the family unit and power in the British family. In the meantime, different types of families have also appeared and the structures also tend to become smaller and smaller. To learn more about the changing British family, the following part will use social science disciplines to explain and analyze this complicated circumstance. In traditional English society, people were not maintained the traditional value in marriages which were a permanent fixture in life. (Hakim, 2003). However, marriage has long been no longer the last, which may only be a temporary relationship between couples. In the late 1950s, divorce began an increasing trend, although the law had not changed (S-cool Youth Marketing, 2014). According to The Guardian (2012) reported that divorce could not help but remain an upward trend since 1945. In 2012, the divorced population reached 118,140, ​​which is just over four times higher than the divorce rate over the years '50, at 30,870 (The Guardian, 2012). The divorced population appeared to decline twice and then three times, but in the meantime marriages also had a downward trend (Figure 3, The Guardian, 2012). There was a perpetual commitment to marriage, according to figure one shows that before 1950 divorce rates in England and Wales were almost zero (The guardian, 2012). Marriages were as essential to girls as an entire career in traditional value life ( Hub Pages, 2014 ). Recently, cohabitation has become common, but it was extremely unacceptable… middle of paper… for women in leadership the expectation of marriage was trending downward as marriage was not the only choice in life. In conclusion, the family structure has shrunk and the position of women has changed, this may contribute to the diversity of social disciplines which included social, political and historical sciences. By analyzing which social values ​​have changed, economics and history can explain the reduction of the family structure. On the other hand, the position of women has changed in education and workplace has become more equal, politics has also changed. Both analyzes use political science to illustrate family change. Social sciences are also important, as they have to decide human behavior and attitude in life. As history, it means exploring human events such as past behaviors and values. All these social sciences are effective to be an analyst in family change.
