Immigrant policies aim to facilitate social and economic integration and are related to social well-being, health, education, and housing and employment programs (Padilla, 1997). But the main discussion when talking about the relationship between social work and immigrants is the concern about cultural adaptation. This includes understanding how to be sensitive to unique cultural contexts, including languages, religion, and ideas. There have been studies that have shown that there is a high amount of stress that an immigrant goes through whether it is obtaining residency, finding work, and/or supporting their families who may or may even be in the same country as them. This stress then results in the need for assistance or support that may not be available
