East Memorial is an elementary school consisting of grades K through 5. The school is part of Weld County School District Six (WCSD 6). The purpose of this document is to identify how East Memorial Elementary School (EMES) and WCSD 6 seek to understand the voices of all stakeholders. Methods Used to Solicit Input from Stakeholders According to Baldrige, “Voice of the customer refers to the process of acquiring information about students and stakeholders. Voice-of-the-customer processes are designed to be proactive and continually innovative to capture the stated, unstated and anticipated requirements, expectations and desires of students and stakeholders” (2012, p. 13) Mr. Ungeheuer (U), Principal of EMES, states: “The three methods used together with the contribution from stakeholders are the use of conducting satisfaction surveys. The second is the use of committees, and the third is the Town Meetings that are held around the city” (personal communication of 28 October 2011). U explains that satisfaction surveys are conducted at the end of the school year for parents and at the beginning of the year for staff members WCSD 6 uses the information to make improvements to all work processes. WCSD 6 uses committees such as the District Strategic Planning and Accountability Committee (DSPAC) and the District Curriculum Council. These committees allow different stakeholders to have a say in what is done within the District. The committees determine the requirements and process that will meet those requirements. Town meetings take place throughout the school year in various locations around the city. Community members can come and give feedback to district representatives.
