There is a video made by Saturday Night Live called "Screen Guild Awards" and in this video they created a satirical theme. The main point of this video was the irony of the fact that there were five nominees for the Best Actor award and ironically they were all white, but there's another problem. In all the films these men starred in, they were all about African Americans but, ironically, it was the whites who were nominated for the award. Also, once again, the result for whoever won the award was that all the white men were all tied for first. When the men were being shown for the award nomination, Saturday Night Live sneaked up on the nominated man trying to get a high five from the African American actor in the film as well. When he chose a high five, the man refused to give him a high five, which is an example of satire used by SNL. SNL's purpose for doing this was because at the Oscars it was the second year in a row that an African American had not been nominated for a major character. At the beginning of the skit we start with a lady saying "we wish we could have named more", then we move on to introducing all the actors. The first character introduced was an African-American male actor who was the main character in a boxing film. So, the actor has a white male next to him telling him that he can do anything he believes in. The satire involved in this was how the background white male character got the nominee and not the lead actor. Then comes a lead actor who, again, is African American and is trying to motivate some people, so the person who was nominated was the really small part of the white character who only had two lines. After that, another satire is when the main actor tries to motivate himself and says "I will work all night to beat these white people", then the person who was nominated was the white librarian who tells him that there are only five minutes left until closing and forces him to leave. Finally, there is an African American male who was in the forest trying to motivate all his friends when a white cameraman comes in the background and says absolutely nothing and still gets nominated for the Best Actor award. Saturday Night Live used a lot of satire in one particularly short skit, only three minutes long.
