An advantage of cognitive behavioral therapy is that it is usually brief, requiring only five to ten months for most emotional problems. Young people attend one session a week and each session lasts approximately 50 minutes. During the session, the young person and the therapist will work together to understand what the problems are and develop new ways to deal with them.
