In cities, suburban areas, and even small towns, people are fearful and concerned that violence has permeated the fabric of their communities and degraded the quality of their lives (Albert J Reiss). There is aggression every day and it can be seen in all different forms. Everywhere you go there will be some kind of aggression. By doing research, I learned new things about psychological aggression and the effects aggression has on people. Milgram's experiment can show you how psychology influences human nature on aggression. This experiment showed that when people were not close to the student, it shocked them more than if they could see him. On Curiosity, a documentary, there was an episode called "How Bad Are You?" which showed exactly what psychologist Stanley Milgram of Yale University did during his experiment (Roth). The only thing the documentary did that wasn't in the original experiment is they added another step. The additional step consisted of another teacher, who was an actor just like the student, at some point quitting and stepping aside and the other teacher would have to take over. This proved that people influence each other's psychological aggression towards other people (Roth). Even decades later, both experiments had the same results. The documentary also showed how our psychological genes influence our aggression. He goes on and proves that in a person's DNA there is a gene that tells how psychologically aggressive they can be, in other words psychopathic (Roth). In a sample of 991 parents in 1995, at age 2, 90% of them reported using one or more forms of psychological aggression by 12 months, with 98% by age 5. The most commonly used psychological aggression is… halfway through the article… being aggressive towards others (Patterson and others), 1967 as cited in Myers). In conclusion, psychological aggression influences the behaviors of all people. Some people are more prone to it than others. There are suggestions that can help people overcome aggression, but with the complexity of the causes of aggression and the difficulty of controlling them (Myers, 2012). Works CitedAlbert J.
