Finding a balance between nature and man"There is no match for the beauty found in America!" I thought with excitement when I first laid eyes on our American landscape. The fascinating forests and beautiful lakes surpassed the stories I heard while growing up. However, I am perplexed when I see places that hinder my sense of awe. Although there are pristine forests, “No Littering” signs seemed to be everywhere. One could easily be perplexed as to why so much effort has gone into preserving an already pristine land. Some only know the wonders that the American landscape offers and believe that it is natural for people to preserve it. Over time, I learned the ongoing struggle to preserve the environment. On the one hand, concerned people advocate for environmental regulations on industries to produce a cleaner environment for their children to enjoy. Their opponents, however, the economists, argue that these rules limit the nation's productivity, thus halting general prosperity. Considering the effects of overpopulation and pollution in China, I agree with the need to protect the environment. Yet these rules to protect our landscape are flawed. Although many people push for regulations on industries while they don't really understand what they protect. It seems that many people today misunderstand nature for pure, pristine soil that we have not corrupted. What's worse is that people go out of their way to intervene and bring it back to life when they lack a deeper understanding of nature. Although nature is not the pure and concentrated essence as many believe, it is undoubtedly valuable to human beings. Two concepts that we use in reference to nature often emerge. The "refined" vision of wealthy city dwellers depicts nature... middle of paper... technology, nature provides crucial resources that we cannot synthesize. Nature is still a mystery that continues to surprise us with wild and brilliant combinations of things, and we, as humans, have only recently come to appreciate some of its creations. The mystery and beauty of nature lies in its unpredictability. Nature has many lessons for us to learn from and it is essential to preserve it. Therefore, we must find a balance between nature conservation and human expansion. We should intervene just a little towards nature, because we don't understand or know everything, but we also shouldn't hesitate to act when it would benefit our prosperity. Today, with technological progress, people are ignorant of what will and will not ruin the environment. It is important to increase public awareness of the facts so that a delicate balance can be established.
