It was there that he met his high school sweetheart Stephanie Brooks with whom he became obsessed, but the relationship did not last long as she did not feel the same about him, so she left him. Depressed by the breakup, Ted dropped out of college and returned home to his family where he discovered the truth about his biological mother. This left Ted in a state of confusion about his identity and feeling betrayed by the women in his life. He returned to high school where he and Stephanie got back together but soon after she agreed to marry him, he left her to seek revenge. After this farce he began his killing spree, luring young women with lies, kidnapping them, raping them, physically abusing them and killing them.
