The Ultimate FighterWhat if your success depended on your fighting skills and dedication? This is the case of the new reality show “The Ultimate Fighter”. It is based on one of the oldest theories, survival of the fittest. Survival of the fittest is how much of American culture is run. This television show portrays American culture using the concept of survival of the fittest. This program, like many programs today, is a reality show. There is a group of kids who are placed in a house to live together. The twist is that all the boys want to become the best fighters. They will have to compete against each other in events and fight each other if they want to stay on the show. The winners get a six-figure contract and the chance to fight with the best in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship). The house is divided into two teams. Each team had an even number of people in each weight class. Teams compete against each other in events such as obstacle courses, etc. The winning team gets to choose one person from their team to fight a team member from the other team. The loser has to pack his bags and go home. If a team becomes uneven, individuals are moved to other teams to equalize them. This show allows people to socialize with each other as they live together. Teams usually stay together at home. Fighters usually hang out with their teammates only at home. People from opposing teams occasionally talk to each other, although the talk usually consists of "trash talk". This could also have an effect on who the team chooses to fight. The show is on Spike TV. This is a channel that claims to be men's TV. This show is aimed at men. Fighter teams are coached by fighters active in the UFC. The... middle of paper... way of life for American culture. Some people may deny it, but it's true. Not everyone and everything can go well. People may not want their companies to fail, but they do. Survival of the fittest balances things out in America. Not every business can be successful and not everyone can be successful. If that were the case, no one would do the jobs that no one wants. If every business worked then, everyone would open a business. It's cruel but we need unsuccessful people. In other words, we need “weak” people. The show is a great example of how American culture is handled. American culture may not be as forthright as to say get in the ring and fight to see who is best suited. In a certain sense everything is a "ring" and everyone competes to see who is the most suitable. This is how America works. This is survival of the fittest.
