Alexander Hamilton was the architect of the Federalist documents and much of America's financial structure. He was only reluctantly admitted to the government of America's great thinkers. His importance as a leading nationalist and financial visionary in the post-revolutionary period was truly discovered in the mid-twentieth century. Historical evidence indicates that he was a Christian and said: “I have carefully examined the evidence of the Christian religion, and if I were a juror as to its authenticity, I would without hesitation give my verdict in its favor. I can demonstrate its truth as clearly as any proposition ever submitted to the mind of man.” ("Alexander Hamilton") Historians began to reevaluate his success. He is best remembered as an opinionated advocate of a strong central government for his composition of the Federalist documents that were used to persuade Americans to ratify the new Constitution.
