A mutation is a change in DNA. An organism's DNA influences its appearance and behavior. It can be any change in the genetic sequence. We Christians realize that genes change over time. The way our DNA can be modified is due to multiple reasons, such as UV rays, radiation or even replication errors. There are different types of mutations and we will talk about them later in the article. Before I delve into the topic of mutations, my initial thought is that it is some sort of gross abnormal growth on or in the creatures of this world (notes, American). One type of mutation is a genetic mutation, in which only one gene is affected. However, scientists and other people use the word gene to refer to two different things: it is a piece of DNA that codes for a specific protein or trait. Sometimes in these situations the amino acid is not even affected. These mutations can happen in two ways, they can be inherited from a parent or they could occur during the person's lifetime.
