Italian Ceramics: Vietri Tableware If you happen to be around the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Capri, Salerno, or even Naples, you may be interested in purchasing a plate or two to take home to remind you of sunny days, breathtaking views and wonderful places. Of course, you can buy pottery at any of the places mentioned above. Let's just hope you managed to get something better than the usual mass tourist products. Fortunately, there are many beautiful pieces waiting for those who seek them. But if you're a collector, a ceramic enthusiast or just love something authentic and fun on your table, head to Vietri Sul Mare. And yes, that will be a little story to tell your guests at home, not just a delicious handmade dish. There are many places in Italy (and Europe) where ceramics are made, by hand or otherwise. However, historically these places were mainly concentrated around clay deposits and, even if the deposits have disappeared or logistics dictate otherwise, most producers remain by tradition, centuries of branding and, consequently, because very often they are a small family business. – they simply live there for many, many years or even centuries. (This is usually not the case with mass-market dinnerware.) One such "cluster" is Vietri. "Vietri ceramics" should be produced in Vietri Sul Mare, a very small town on the cliffs facing the sea, just west of Sorrento. . Well, it's the fun part, the flavor and the story behind the item. But also know that the same Vietri ceramics are around the corner. Although they are not 100% Vietri, they are the same, made by the same people with the same technologies and often on the same blanks. For example: in Cava de' Tirreni, which is a...... means of paper...... on the glossy enamelling over time. Typical of older pieces, this effect is called "crazing". So, if your plate survives your children growing up, they will later have a beautiful antique-looking work of art in their collection. All in all, Vietri tableware is one of those things that make our life better. They are beautiful, authentic and more or less unique. And most importantly, they have a story behind them and we are sure you will have found one too if you have already brought one home. © 2013, Set The Table. http://setthetable.se------------------------------Set the table. http://setthetable.seOur store provides the best quality unique dishes that will make your kitchen stand out.
