CASE STUDY: AtekPC PMOAtekPC PMO: PMO stands for Project Management Office. It was founded in 1984 and has become one of the standard PC manufacturers in the United States with approximately 2,100 employees and revenue of $1.9 million in 2006. Purpose of PMO:1. Traditionally the PMO is introduced because it can satisfy the discipline needs in IT project management.2. According to this case, the main use of PMO is to provide standardization in managing large-scale projects and also improve the performance and planning of initiatives.3. It also helps in enriching skills in project management, authority with large projects/complex projects, progress and governance of an organization.4. The case indicates that the PMO is also used to monitor expected benefits and target underperforming projects for consultation or termination.5. It is also used to make everyone in the organization aware of the benefits of consistent design practices. PMO Missions: There are many different missions in the PMO as appropriate. Since most of them are not finalized, let's talk about the two main missions of PMO.1. The very first mission of the PMO is cost reduction. It is the base although it is a short term objective of this mission. According to this, since we cannot spend more money, we need to be very cautious in the use of resources.2. The second mission is to become more adaptive, agile and more creative in introducing new products. Duties: PMO duties are divided into two different categories i.e. 1. Project Focused: It focuses on responsibilities such as training, consultancy, consultancy etc., which ensure the success of each and every project.2. Enterprise-oriented: focuses on services that can improve projects like PM is...... middle of paper ...... ensuring success.2. As has been stated, PMO strongly dictates getting a lot of changes among employees to achieve short-term goals, which is a game changer if when we only implement that model.3. Therefore, a combination of the two models will lead to the achievement of long-term goals that will also improve trust among colleagues.4. This will help us manage most of the cultural issues caused during implementation by allowing staff to adapt, understand and accept changes.5. This will also help in solving staffing issues as the organization can hire the current serving managers instead of new employees and train them as the company wants to achieve cost reduction.6. It will also have an effect on governance. I think this can be one of the best recommendations that can help John Strider move forward with PMO implementation at AteckPC.
