(page 224 of Medici Money) Pope Sixtus IV, noticing the tribute to the biblical description, became angry and for this reason accused Lorenzo as a heretic and enemy of the Church. (page 224 of Medici Money) Lorenzo made a bold move by going to Naples alone, and then spoke to King Ferdinand I, begging him not to attack Florence with the Pope's help. Miraculously, Ferdinand agreed to withdraw the attack. Later, when Pope Innocent VIII threatened to expand his territory by conquering Naples, Lorenzo managed to explain the entire plot to him.
