Bearded dragons are becoming quite a common pet! Bearded dragons can come in many different shapes or colors. Bearded dragons are a very docile reptile. Furthermore, it is very easy to care for compared to other reptiles. There are several things that a person would need to start a breeding pair of bearded dragons. For example, two bearded dragons, a food source, a habitat, lighting, and a hatchery area. Additionally, breeding requires other special aspects, such as making sure there is a female and a male. Another obstacle is getting the couple to mate. Not every two lizards that someone puts together starts mating; lizards must like each other. What do you need to care for and raise bearded dragons? How much would it cost to start a breeding pair formation? According to McGleish: The “Inland Bearded Dragon” aptly owes its name to the very pronounced beard that is sometimes displayed in defensive displays as well as during mating behavior. By inflating the throat area, both males and females can display beards, although the male's is usually a much darker, almost pitch black beard. Adult bearded dragons average between 15 and 24 inches in length, while hatchlings are between 3 and 4 inches at birth. Young dragons grow quickly and reach sexual maturity within one year of age. Juvenile beards usually begin to show their coloration by two months of age. The initial cost to start a habitat and establish a food colony is the most expensive part of raising bearded dragons. The cage itself should be a terrarium large enough for two adult bearded dragons. A perfect size would be a large 18" by 36" by 18" glass terrarium. That terrarium costs about $235 dollars new. Whatever you want to decorate the aquarium with, such as the floor, walls...half the paper. .. costs almost five times the initial deposit. Bearded dragons require several things such as a habitat, food, artificial light and water. Bearded dragons breed quite easily and produce many offspring from each brood. Bearded dragons are cute spiny lizards desert friendly to humans. Not only do bearded dragons make great pets, they also make a great side business. Works Cited "Blaptica Dubia Roaches."
