Sandy Hook Shooting Conspiracies On December 14, 2012, Adam Lanza allegedly went to Sandy Hook Elementary, his old elementary school, and shot and killed twenty-six students and faculty, then shot the gun on himself before arrest by the police. The Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting was a tragic event, it's hard not to sympathize with the families of those killed. There is a movement, however, that claims the shooting was faked (Spaeth). The shooting is believed to have been staged to pave the way for stricter gun control (Salazar). Conspiracy theorists, who call themselves Truthers, have numerous times provided evidence to support their claims in an attempt to convince the general population. The Truthers begin by pointing out the FBI's crime. They are calling on the government to explain what really happened and for justice to be fairly served. They have not had an open playing field, however, they have received opposition to every move they have made with explanations, counterarguments and information from the government, police force, first responders and Newtown residents. They argue that the Sandy Hook shooting fell under the jurisdiction of the state police, a separate entity that is not necessarily required to report all crime statistics, and not the federal police. Therefore the FBI crime report would not include the shooting as there was no direct involvement (Mikkelson). This, they argue, has been carefully overlooked by the Truthers. With the Truthers' support coming mostly from conspiracy theory haven, InfoWars.com, it's not hard to imagine the simple reality of the Truthers out there just trying to make noise, or even just keep refuting the government (Bennent). The opposition forces also pointed out that in the photos of Emilie with the president was her younger sister Madeline. You can see the similarity in Figure A. They explain that the dress is the same from Figure A to Figure B explaining that, in many families, when the older brother outgrows his clothes, they give it to the younger siblings, in a way called second hand. This is the case of Madeline and Emilie“As Connecticut State Police spokesman Lt. Paul Vance stated, 'Were there other people detained? The answer is yes. In the height of battle, until you've determined the who, what, when, where and why of all living things... it's not unusual.' " (Mikkelson). Chris Manfredonia was freed when the police discovered that he was running into the woods because he heard "pops" coming from the school. Fearing that something had happened to his six-year-old daughter, he immediately ran to school (Mikkelson). The unidentified man, taken out of the forest in handcuffs, wearing camouflage and carrying a rifle, turned out to be a "police officer from the tactical squad of another city" (Mikkelson. The name of Christopher Rodia can be heard). on the police radio, but he was busy during the shooting and the officers can explain that He was busy getting stopped by the police not even near the school, there are only a certain number of ways to communicate long distance via radio and officers often talk accidentally. among themselves. This is simply something that police officers have to deal with
