The discussion about gun control is long gone and America should enact laws requiring gun owners to register their firearms. A background check of every citizen who carries a gun is necessary so that guns do not end up in the arms of criminals and the mentally ill. Thinking that people can use guns to fight for their freedom is a distant idea that needs rethinking. However, gun control is not the only solution because it is necessary to educate the population about the risks of owning weapons and ask them to hand them over whenever they want.
