It tries to preserve the rigid structure of the self and therefore the actualizing tendency cannot update the body and is therefore diverted towards the wrong directions. Psychological maladjustment then occurs. The person who lives in such a state of incongruity is a person who lives in a state of tension. Faced with the threat that involves experiences expelled from his consciousness, he will react with anguish and defensive behaviors. Psychotherapy will be necessary, which will attempt to restore congruence between the body and the self, through the reorganization of the latter. Individually focused therapy receives a consistent explanation. The therapist, with a view to facilitating this reorganization, will have to establish conditions of acceptance and understanding that in some way remedy their lack during the first experiences of the person's children. Create a climate of freedom and security, facilitate the person free from threats and explore their experiences. Understanding the individual can facilitate the reorganization of all their experiences around a broader context
