No one today sees women anymore as someone to look down on. Women have earned their place in the world. Thanks to the women of our past, we of the future have the power to control our lives. Alice Walker's book The Color Purple really makes the reader understand that no one should take for granted what now comes easily to us. Yesterday is something they fought for. Walker uses the main character Celie as an example of someone who fought for her life. Walker portrays Celie as a woman in that time who has absolutely nothing, no rights. Then over time she earns a fortune just like women do today at any time of the day. Now we can learn and work, we can even vote or rule over men in some cases. We have power and it all started with women fighting for their power
