This creates the belief among many young students that college is actually a commodity, something they must have to have a good life. There are many different factors that influence this mindset, high schools need to emphasize the importance of students' willingness and drive to further their education. College is not just a gateway to a job, but it is an opportunity to increase knowledge, broaden and challenge the student, which in return makes them a more well-rounded adult and provides them with skills they may not have had before
